EPIPHYTES (from the Greek. "Epi" - "on", "phyton" - plant) - plants that inhabit other plants, mainly on branches and tree trunks and receive nutrients from the environment, not from the host plant, on unlike parasites. Epiphytes are thought to have arisen in the course of evolution, due to the peculiarities of ecological conditions in shady humid places, rising from the twilight that prevailed in the lower tiers of forests to the light. The most common epiphyte plants are orchids.

I have 5 blood sisters and none of them are "rooted" in the place where I was born. Actually, none of them has been "rooted" anywhere at all. For many years, I have been watching their stories and the stories of my other non-blood sisters: one moved from Crimea in the distant 2002, the other in 2007, the third in 2014, one lives in Kyiv (Ukraine), the other lives in Warsaw (Poland), the third - in Frankfurt (Germany), the fourth - in Paris (France), the fifth - in Kerala (India). The economic, cultural and political factors that motivated my girls to move from other countries to other cities and countries can be mentioned and listed for a long time. But one motivation is common to them all: finding a better place, better conditions for your life.

My girls, beautiful flowers, are so fragile and whimsical at first glance - in fact, very strong and enduring, on their way to a perfect life, they want and can adapt to different conditions. Like epiphytes, in their life cycles, they find strengths and ways to break away from the familiar soil, seek other supports, go from difficulties and dangers to other "floors". Sometimes it's an escape from reality, sometimes it's evolution. On the road to the light, my sisters move higher and higher, finding "home" and resistance in other people, other cities and countries. Of course, as in nature, someone will settle among the vines in the rainforest, and someone will spend all his life as a perfect flower, as a decoration in a glass flask on someone else's windowsill. But is it possible for someone to become a Bodhi tree in the shade of which the Buddha will wake up?
